Ottobrunn’s location
The name Ottobrunn is synonymous with the rise of Bavaria as the European centre of the aerospace industry. MBB (Messerschmitt–Bölkow-Blohm), as well as its spin-offs DASA (Daimler Aerospace AG) and EADS (European Aeronautic Defence and Space Company) have ensured that our town, founded in the South of Munich in 1955, has achieved worldwide recognition as a centre for high technology. Other notable companies in the area are IABG, Bosch Security Systems and Tyco Electronics.
Ideally situated between the airport, the Alps and the cosmopolitan city of Munich and with excellent road links (access to the A8 and A99 motorways), Ottobrunn can count itself as one of the most attractive business locations in Germany. Its own suburban rail station and a good bus network provide fast links to the state capital and neighbouring towns. The 20,000 population includes an unusually high proportion of well-qualified people with above-average spending power.
Ottobrunn combines all the advantages of proximity to a major city like Munich with the quality of life one finds in a green belt town. Our civic and cultural centre, the Wolf-Ferrari-Haus provides a diverse and sophisticated programme of events and is much–loved by companies and institutions alike. With three primary schools, a grammar school, a secondary school on our doorstep, the third largest adult education centre in Upper Bavaria, a music school and a choice of day-care centres for children, there is an extensive range of educational opportunities available. We also boast a good range of recreational facilities through the Phoenix swimming pool with its extensive sauna and spa area, the ice skating rink, the sports stadium, a multi-purpose hall and recreational activities organized by around 80 clubs.
